Swanage is often referred to as the gem of the Dorset coast and marks the eastern end of the world famous Jurassic coastline. Swanage beach is a great place for families with children being especially well catered for. There all of the usual amusements etc to keep them amused but the safety aspect is especially important.
There are adequate toilet facilities with the main toilets being directly opposite the main part of the beach and the local council do a great job of keeping everything clean and tidy.
The sea in front of the main beach is clearly marked out with buoys to cordon off a swimmers only area and the lifeguards in attendance ensure that there is help at hand should any of the swimmers or paddlers for that matter get into any difficulty.
There is steam railway link to Corfe Castle which is a lovely place to visit and the Jurassic coastline itself will keep the family occupied for ages if the weather does not permit an afternoon sunbathing on the beach.
There are some brilliant places to eat in Swanage, from a simple pub launch to an a la carte meal in one of the top hotels and restaurants that Swanage is well known for. The beach at Swanage is often rated amongst the top 10 beaches in the UK and it must be said that everything about this area portrays the feel good factor which means that families will return year after year.
For anyone who prefers a more active holiday, it should be noted that Swanage has a pier which is regarded as one of the best diving locations in the country. There are also numerous walks which offer an outstanding view over the Jurassic coastline, which it should be said is England’s only Natural World Heritage Site.
