The beautiful resort of Shanklin is situated on the south east corner of the Isle of Wight and has been a favourite holiday destination for many people over the years.
It has a lovely beach which is safe for bathing and swimming with coastguards keeping a watchful eye to ensure that there are not any problems. The great thing about the beach at Shanklin is that it is protected from the wind by Dunnose Point with the imposing cliffs of Luccombe and St Boniface Downs near by.
It is worth travelling up to the cliff tops by lift which is available and the views from that height really are stunning to say the least.
The beach at Shanklin looks out over the English Channel and it would be fair to say that the sea front has a Victorian feel about it, with the ‘pitch and put’ as well as children’s amusements. Shanklin seems more suited to family holidays as opposed to those who wish to hit the clubs every night but there are other parts of the Island such as Sandown which those people may find slightly more appealing.
Shanklin Old village should also be explored and it is only a short walk away from the beach. There is a fabulous pub there which serves beautiful food and is the ideal place to wander over to after a days relaxation on the beach.
Another great thing about a beach holiday in Shanklin is that all of the other parts of the island are easily accessible so you could try the beach at Shanklin one day, Sandown on another day, explore the delights of Blackgang Chine. With a Shanklin beach holiday, the world really is your oyster and you are free to travel wherever you like in no time at all.
